Well it got cold again....
Alaska has had an unusually warm winter. I mean we had a week of like 20 and 30 degree days. It was amazing! Well pretty much over night the temperture dropped like 40 degrees, and we are back in the -20s.....yayyyyy...... This meant that Lace finally had to wear her boots, and that pretty much makes my life better. She is so dumb, and stood growling at herself in the mirror for like 10 minutes after I put them on. So here are some magical pics and videos of my dog because she is awesome! #sorry #notevensorryalittlebit ;)
To Go Ape or Not to Go Ape?
The answer is always go ape! When I was visiting Virginia over Christmas this year my dearest, most amazingly talent friend Emma came up a pretty BA idea. (Emma has a blog you should probs check it out:)) In case you are not aware Emma and I tend to have pretty ridiculous adventures together (like our crazy England road trip), and honestly we should just not be allowed in public together. Too much awesomeness. People just can't handle it!
Anywho! So she came up with the brilliant idea to go to Go Ape, which is an outdoor rope-zipline course of fantastical fun! They have them all over the country (except Alaska:(...) I highly recommend you check them out! The best part is that there is a lot of freedom when you are going through the course. You do not have to stand in line while everyone goes through one by one under close supervision. After a very quick training session and safety talk we were allowed to go. Employees are never far though, and like to shout up suggestions from the ground.
My two favorite parts were the zipline and tarzan swing. The tarzan swing was pretty terrifying because you are all hooked up and ready to go, you just have to step off the platform. I think both Emma and I had multiple moments of "OK, Ready, and Go!.....You didn't go...." When you are like 30 ft off the ground and are about to swing into a net suspended in between two trees it is really hard to take that first step! Hint: Try to grab as far up on the net as you can, or else it will take you forever to climb up to the next platform!
The zip line! I mean really I think this should be the mode of transportation for everyone from now on! Sooooooo much fun! The only problem is if you get turned around. If you come in facing front you can just run in so you don't fall, but I am pretty sure it is impossible to run fast enough backwards so you don't end up on your butt! Lets just say I ended up on my but more then once! Luckily for me Emma brought her Go Pro and got it on video.....

One thing you should know about be is (like most normal people) when I start to really laugh (like uncontrollably) my muscles can no longer handle themselves and I usually just fall over in a fit of giggles. Its terrible and you would think I would have grown out of it but whatever. So that is what is happening in this video I am not hurt I simply cannot get up because I literally crying I was laughing so hard. So I hope everyone enjoys this embarrassing video of me because I mean really, if you can't laugh at yourself what the hell are you doing?

Yukon Quest
So yesterday was the start of 31st Yukon Quest, and since it was starting in Fairbanks this year the UAF Wildlife Society decided to make an unofficial event of it! The Yukon Quest is a 1,000 mile dog sled race that runs from Fairbanks to Whitehorse, Yukon. It is kinda a big deal, and these people are a little bit crazy! Seeing all the sled dogs before the race was such a cool experience. They are pretty much adorable, and a lot smaller then you would think! My main mental image of sled dogs is from Balto, so I was thinking small wolf size. I mean who wasn't?!
We can group this under the lies my favorite animated movies told me!
Regardless, it was a great experience to go out and see them start the race! It seemed like half the town was there! If you want to follow the race you can check out the Yukon Quest Facebook page or Website! They update all the time with conditions and photos:) I have been a smidge obsessed with checking it!

New Year , New Outlook
Happy New Year! Ok well I know I am a month late, but hear me out on this one! So every new year people always make resolutions some of which they stick, but the majority of them only last a week. We have all done it, and it is ok! It's completely normal and all human nature.
Since coming to Alaska I feel like I have grown and changed as a person, and I really feel more comfortable with myself and what I want from life. I have been here 6 months, and I do not want to stagnate. I have this amazing opportunity to gain new skills, and really challenge myself in one of the most amazing places in the world. So this year instead of making my new years resolution on new years eve I pretty much took the whole month of January to get back into the swing of things with school and work, and be epically lazy. (The laziness may or may not have anything to do with the Xbox one which is freaking amazing and everyone needs one!)
January has come and gone, and it is now time to write out my resolutions. I am going to do 2 that will last all year, and then each month set a new goal for myself. I figured this way I have both a deadline to complete my goal/resolution, and it is not completely overwhelming!
1) Update blog every Sunday! I totally dropped off, but I love my blog and really want to stick with it!
2) Get all A's in school....one B is allowed as long as it is not a freaking B- like last time!
February- Learn to cross country ski! I am so excited about this, and have wanted to do it forever! Well it is so happening this month! Skijoring is definitely in Lace and I's future! Here is a link of what Skijoring is. It seems very intense, but I can work on training with Lace all year round so that is a bonus:)
